Biking and Shooting along the Poudre River - Fort Collins Downtown

Instead of paddling I went biking on Saturday evening, but I took with me my camera bag with Canon EOS 10D and a tripod.

I arrived at historic Harmony Mill near Fort Collins downtown about 1 hour before sunset . After some shots I went down to the Poudre River. I spent some time on and under Lincoln Street bridge. There was some water flowing creating interesting patterns between big rocks, but I didn't manage to get any decent pictures. I returned back to Harmony Mill and a grain elevator on the river shore.

When I lost sunlight I walked with a camera and bike to the downtown. I finished my photowalk at the Northern Hotel. It was still pretty nice diffuse light after sunset.

Two years ago, after paddling the Poudre, I stopped at the Lincoln Bridge shortly after sunset and shot some nice pictures of the Harmony Mill and the grain elevator. The light was great. Unfortunately, I didn't have a tripod with me at that time.

I think I will be doing more photo biking trips when I figured out how to carry the camera back and tripod on a bike rack (just some bungees and a piece of foam paddling). After all, I have many miles of bike trails in my neiborhood: along the Cache la Poudre River in Fort Collins, Windsor and Greeley and along Big Thompson River in Loveland.
