Climbing Snowdrifts on the South Platte River with Thunderbolt Kayak

Thunderbolt kayak, South Platte River at Evans

Snow is disappearing in Colorado, but you still need 4WD to reach the South Platte River shore at Evans Riverside Park. I shot this picture with Pentax Optio W10 when climbing with Thunderbolt-X kayak through snowdrifts on the tall river bank. It was after a short paddle above Evans.

I have not paddled for more than 3 weeks because of my bad cold or cold winter conditions. It feels good to return back to life. I choose to paddle in early afternoon with temperatures in upper 40s. I often paddle later trying to catch a better light for photography, but uploading a kayak after sunset with a rapidly dropping temperature is not a fun when you are recovering from a cold.
