Douglas Lake - Sea Kayaking in Northern Colorado

Douglas Lake is a small reservoir north of Fort Collins near Wellington - quiet, rather shallow with sandy shores, no trees, but a nice view of mountains, pelicans, herons, and other birds, carps.

A few years ago, I used to paddle there more often before or after work. It is just on the other side of the town from my home, so these days I rather go to Beaver Pond for my paddling workouts. Nevertheless, I visited the Douglas Lake for the after work paddle on September 7 with my Sisson Nucleus kayak.

It was a hazy afternoon with some clouds, but in addition to some good paddling I shot a few pictures with Pentax Optio W10 camera. I suspect that the lake may look more attractive on pictures than in reality ...

It may be worth to come again in a more stable boat and with my Canon SLR camera to try to shoot better pictures of pelicans against the mountains.
