Sisson Nucleus Kayak in Fall Colors - A Photo Study

One of the last afternoons in September. Fall colors got more intense than during my last paddling and shooting on Beaver Pond. Well, precisely speaking, there one fall color in Colorado: gold in different tones.

This time I took my DSLR camera, Canon EOS 10D, and a Gitzo Mountaineer tripod . I was trying to shoot pictures for some HDR (high dynamic range) photography experiments, i.e., shooting with a wide exposure bracketing. I will be posting pictures and comments on my progress with the HDR technique.

Anyway, I ended up spending more time photographing than paddling. When I play with my waterproof point and shoot camera, Pentax Optio W10, I definetely have more time for paddling.

I was mostly shooting my Sisson Nucleus kayak. It is quite a challenge to shoot this white kayak in a direct sunlight without overexposing it. I've got the best pictures of Sisson kayak when shooting in diffuse light just after sunset, e.g., this picture with Rocky Mountain Front Range behind Douglas Lake. The last picture above was also shot at dusk while three others just before sunset.
