World Meteorological Day 2007 - The Polar Meteorology Theme with a Sea Kayaker

Worl Meteorological Day 2007

books on meteorology

Every year, on 23 March, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), its 187 Members and the worldwide meteorological community celebrate World Meteorological Day. This Day commemorates the entry into force, on that date in 1950, of the WMO Convention creating the Organization. Subsequently, in 1951, WMO was designated a specialized agency of the United Nations System.

The WMO theme for the year 2007 is “Polar meteorology: understanding global impacts”. I certainly like their poster with a sea kayaker!

I usually do not consider myself a meteorologist, but as a scientist I am working on development and applications of computer models for transport of air pollution and trace gases in the atmosphere focusing recently on carbon dioxide at Colorado State University.
