Videocasting on Photography: Photowalking with Thomas Hawk

Robert Scoble's Videoblog presents a very interesting video in four parts: Photowalking with Thomas Hawk, part 1, part 2, part 3, and part 4.

It’s remarkable video where you’ll learn a lot about the creative process, the latest equipment, see some good techniques to find unique images, and more. He was shooting with Canon 5D and prime, i.e., non-zoom lenses.

The walk goes on near and underneath the Golden Gate Bridge and cover the time right before sunset where light starts changing. Then, it continues into the city for some urban nighttime photography. You’ll get lots of tips on how to shoot at night.

After watching these videos I am definitely switching to recording my pictures in RAW when shooting with a DSLR. And, I am hoping to upgrade my old Canon 10D digital camera sometime in the next year.

To learn more about Thomas Hawk's photography check his pictures on Flickr and his photo blog Thomas Hawk's Digital Connection.

You can find numerous pictures of Golden Gate Bridge in his Flickr photostream including frames shot during the photowalk like that one above with a dramatic light (my favorite is an earlier shot). So, you can see on the video how it was done.
