Some paddlers are afraid to paddle on the South Platte River during a goose and duck hunting season. I paddle the South Platte near Greeley every winter and have never had any problems with hunters, although, I wrote a somewhat provoking post a couple of years ago.

Hi Marek, I have paddled on the South Platte twice this month on days with lots of hunters. The big boats definitly provoke more curiosity than anything else. I had a nice chat with a hunter a couple weeks ago about half way to Plumb Ditch Dam. He was having a slow morning so wanted to know everything about the boat. The rest of the guys just shake their head and tell me I am going the wrong way. I try to give them a wide birth as to not disturb their hunting and always promise to send more birds back down stream.
Glad to hear you are back on the water. Are we doing the South Platte Marathon again this year?
Talk soon – Rob
Rob, I would like to do the same racing on the South Platte as last year: the upstream race probably on March 15 (together with a joint club trip) and two weeks the marathon. It would be good to find more racers. Perhaps, we need a shorter warming up race earlier in March.
What a great picture of the decoys. The picture looks exactly like the place out west I used to hunt. I mean exactly.
