There are several paddling clubs in Colorado, and, perhaps more informal groups.
- Rocky Mountain Canoe Club
- Poudre Paddlers – Canoe and Kayak Club
- High Country River Rafters
- Flatwater Frogs, a kayaking group for women
- Rocky Mountain Sea Kayak Club
- CanoeColorado, some informal kayak and canoe trips
Each club has a calendar of trips and other paddling related events. They also organize an annual joint club paddling trip on the South Platte River from Evans to Kersey or Kuner as an opening of paddling season. It is usually scheduled on the third Saturday of March with a snow date a week later. See the 2023 flyer for more information. You don’t need to be a member of any paddling club to participate.
I am not a member of any paddling club right now. My interest is focused on fitness paddling and training for long distance endurance paddle races, and photography.
Years ago, I was running Northern Colorado Fitness Paddling group on facebook. That group was somewhat active 12-15 years ago as a place to coordinate training workouts including some upstream/downstream paddling on the South Platte River. I was also trying to organize some informal racing on the South Platte. Nowadays, I am mostly paddling SUPs and my 2023 goal it to return back to river racing. I wonder if there is still any interest in the fitness oriented paddling. The groups is still formally open and we can revive it.
